Electrolysis
What is Electrolysis?
Electrolysis is where a probe is inserted into a hair follicle and an electrical current is applied
to that hair follicle to destroy it.
(A follicle is a small below – surface skin organ that produces hair)
Only the cells of the hair follicle are treated.
The loosened unwanted hair is removed with tweezers.
The aim of electrolysis is to destroy the vital growing cells of the hair follicle so that
unwanted hair does not grow back.
The first person to use electrolysis was Doctor Michel in 1875 to treat ingrown hair
using the galvanic (direct) current. This is the true electrolysis.
Thermolysis (high frequency) current was first introduced in 1925 in France by
Dr Bordier it can be referred to as electrolysis.
What is Galvanic Electrolysis?
Galvanic Electrolysis is the true classification of Electrolysis is where a fine probe
is inserted into the hair follicle and the galvanic current also known as the direct current is applied.
The galvanic current changes the water and salt in the hair follicle to form a small amount
of alkaline lye called Sodium Hydroxide.
This natural change in the water and salt inside the hair follicle effectively destroys the
unwanted hair – germinating cells in the hair follicle.
The galvanic current destroys the unwanted hair completely as it dissolves to whole follicle
and not just the root of the hair.
Research shows that the entire hair follicle and connective tissue – the vital growth element
needs to be treated to ensure that all germ and papillary cells are destroyed and so
preventing any new hair growth.
This complete destruction of the hair follicle ensures that the unwanted hair is destroyed first time.
The galvanic current not only ensures thorough destruction of the hair follicle but
provides ongoing healing and cleansing of the hair follicle after the probe is removed,
making it ideal for all skin types.
This electrolysis process using galvanic current has over 100 years use and is the only tried and proven method to destroy unwanted hair.
Hildi Hair Removal with ‘Multiprobe’ Electrolysis uses the galvanic current and is the most effective way to ensure that your unwanted hair is destroyed forever.
Is Electrolysis really permanent?
Electrolysis is the only medically proven method of permanent hair removal.
Electrolysis is classified as “permanent” hair removal.
In 2007 the FDA – U.S. Food and Drug Administration gave electrolysis the clearance of being the only safe and reliable way to remove hair permanently.
It treats all hair colour types and is suitable for all skin colour tones.
What is Thermolysis?
Thermolysis is also known as diathermy or high frequency and can be commonly interchanged with or referred to as electrolysis.
Thermolysis treatments is where a single probe is inserted into the hair follicle treating one hair at a time.
A short burst of high frequency current is applied and produces heat in the hair follicle to burn or ‘cook’ the root of the hair. The high – frequency current aims to prevent hair growth by burning the cells of the hair follicle.
Thermolysis provides quick and fast insertions of the probe with a high amount of heat being applied. The heat current that is used is usually difficult to tolerate and may result in damage to the skin surface.
Thermolysis with single probe for the removal of unwanted hair has many limitations in its use and results can vary greatly.
What is Blend?
The Blend method of electrolysis is where a single needle is inserted into a hair follicle treating one hair at a time. A combination of the thermolysis current and galvanic current are applied together.
This blend method of electrolysis with single needle for the removal of unwanted hair has limitations in its use and results can vary.
Can Laser Clinics do Electrolysis?
Laser clinics often offer treatments for hair removal other than laser or IPL hair removal.
Commonly laser clinics offer cosmetic treatments including anti-wrinkle injections such as botox, dermal fillers, and eyebrow micro blading or feathering.
Electrolysis hair removal may be offered as a treatment for unwanted hair in some laser clinics.
This standard electrolysis found in laser clinics is similar to electrolysis treatments found in many beauty salons.
It is difficult to measure progress and success in the treatment for unwanted hair when many different applications are used to treat the same area.
Hildi Hair Removal with ‘Multi probe’ Electrolysis is exclusive to the
Australian Permanent Hair Removal Centre
and is a safe and proven method of permanent hair removal – for all hair types and colours
including white, blonde, and grey – and is recommended for anyone who wants to be rid
of unwanted hair forever.
